Read Teams by Role, Not by Name
A team sheet is a stack of jobs, not a list of stars. This page shows you which roles are stable, which are split, and which jobs are worth paying up for in your fantasy XI.

The Roster Evaluation Lens
A fantasy XI is built by picking the right role from each franchise, not the loudest name. Most rooms leak points because a captain pick was a star doing the wrong job in that match — not because the star underperformed at his actual job.
Run the lens in this order. Role first, then workload, then matchup. The order sounds backwards until you try it on a tough fixture, and then it becomes obvious.
Role-by-Role Reads
Use the comparison below to read any team sheet. The same three columns apply to every franchise, which is what makes the lens portable across the season.

| Top order | Opening pair stability, who faces the powerplay, who defends against spin early. | A clear slotter outranks a louder name floating between 1 and 4. |
| Middle order | Anchor role vs accelerator role. Who finishes games, who plays the rebuild overs. | A defined role usually means a defined point floor. Watch for split roles — they dent captain picks. |
| All-rounder | Overseas vs Indian, batting position, and which overs of bowling they actually deliver. | The most secure all-rounders are the ones who bowl 2-3 overs every match without fail. |
| Pace battery | Powerplay specialist, middle-overs workhorse, death-over closer. Three different jobs, three different profiles. | Death-over clarity is the rarest asset. If a team has a defined 19th-and-20th-over bowler, that bowler is gold for captain calls. |
| Spin unit | Powerplay spin, middle-overs choke, and any wicket-taking option in the middle phase. | On dry tracks, a frontline spinner is a captain candidate. On green tracks, that same bowler drops out of the XI conversation. |
| Wicketkeeper | Who keeps, who bats at 4 or 5, who is used as an Impact Player swap. | A keeper-batter at 4 or higher is a captain-eligible slot. A keeper at 7 is a points-floor pick, not a ceiling pick. |
Bench Flexibility and the Impact Player Read
The Impact Player rule is a bench story more than a starting XI story. Franchises that built a like-for-like bench can absorb a toss-day swap without changing the fantasy signal. Franchises that did not, force a rebalance on the fly, and your saved team inherits that rebalance whether you wanted it or not.
- A franchise with two frontline seamers on the bench can rotate without losing firepower. That keeps the playing XI stable across back-to-back games.
- A franchise with one overseas bench option only is one injury away from a forced reshuffle. Avoid naming that overseas player as captain on the day before a flight.
- Indian all-rounder depth tells you how brave the Impact Player call can get. More depth means a like-for-like swap, not a forced rebalance.
