How to Use This Page
The questions below are the ones that come up most often on a matchday. They are not a substitute for the full IPL how-to-play flow or the T20 scoring reference — those pages are the workbench, this one is the cheat sheet. Skim it before lock time on a busy matchday, and treat the answers as a starting frame for your own read.
Two questions get asked more than any others in week one of the season: when exactly the lineup locks, and what the Impact Player rule actually does to a saved XI. Both are below. Two more come up every time rain looks possible: what a reduced-overs match does to scoring, and how a DLS result affects your room.

IPL-Specific Quick Answers
When does the lineup lock relative to the toss?
Lock lands a few minutes before the scheduled first ball. The toss itself is usually 30 minutes before that. You have one window to read the toss, confirm the XI, and pick captain. A saved XI you built earlier still counts, but the captain multiplier is the one piece that should wait for the toss read.
How does the Impact Player swap affect my saved team?
Each franchise names 4 substitutes and picks one as the Impact Player after the toss. That substitution is a like-for-like swap that does not count as a new player — your saved XI is read against the post-swap playing eleven, not the pre-swap squad sheet. Pick your XI with the swap in mind: who gets dropped if the franchise wants more batting, who gets dropped if it wants more bowling.
What happens to points in a rain-affected or reduced-overs match?
A match that starts but is reduced in overs uses a reduced Duckworth-Lewis-Stern target. Points are still scored the same way per ball, but strike rate and economy bands get harder to clear at fewer balls. A five-over thrash plays differently to a 20-over game — and so does the captain pick.
Can I edit my team between back-to-back fixtures?
Yes, and you should plan to. Each new match is a fresh contest with a fresh lock. Most platforms also let you carry a saved XI forward — use that as your baseline and only swap the slots that the next matchup invalidates. The edit window per matchday is small (around 15 minutes between the toss and the lock), so the saved XI is your real asset.
Does the Impact Player get points as a full squad member?
Yes. The named Impact Player earns fantasy points on every ball they face or bowl, including the captain multiplier if you slot them in as captain. The substitute rule applies to the franchise's XI, not to your fantasy XI — your eleven is still eleven players, with the captain and vice-captain multipliers applied as usual.
How does a tied or no-result match affect my entry?
Most IPL fantasy rooms treat a tie as a settled match — points still count, the room still ranks. A no-result (match abandoned without a ball bowled) is usually a refund of the entry. Reduced-overs matches are different: a DLS result still produces a winner and points still count.
Is there a rule around swapping captain after the toss?
On most platforms, the captain and vice-captain pick locks at the same time as the rest of the XI. The save-then-edit-then-lock rhythm means: pick the XI before the toss, wait for the toss, confirm captain and vice-captain, then lock. Once locked, the multiplier is final.
What is the fairest way to handle a franchise resting a player?
Treat the rest as a fixture-by-fixture event, not as news to react to in panic. A confirmed rest usually surfaces through the franchise tweet or the toss interview. Cross-check it against your saved XI and edit the slot that is now empty. Do not overhaul the XI for one rested name — that is how over-edits happen.
