IPL 2026 Points
Score Your XI by T20 Thresholds, Not Name Value
Scoring thresholds in a T20 are tighter than in longer formats. The right captain call on a 60-point batter with a 2x is worth more than the wrong call on a 90-point batter. This page gives you the numbers behind that thinking.

The T20 Scoring Baseline
Batting points, bowling points, and fielding points follow the standard fantasy model. Run scored is +1, wicket taken is +25, catch is +8. Where the IPL scoring diverges from longer formats is in the bonus and threshold bands, which are tuned for 20-over innings.
For the format-agnostic scoring baseline (Test and ODI bands included), the general points guide covers the full picture. The numbers below are IPL-specific.
T20-Specific Thresholds

Captain and Vice Multipliers
Captain gets 2x, vice-captain gets 1.5x. Multipliers apply to the final tally, which means a 40-point vice-captain is worth 60 points, and a 40-point captain is worth 80. The whole "is this player a captain" question is the question of whether their match floor plus role ceiling clears the room average.
- Death-over economy: a bowler conceding under 6 in the last four overs is where the +4 bonus lives. Use this to spot captain calls, not just wicket-takers.
- Impact Player scoring: the substitute is treated as a full squad member for points. A like-for-like swap does not reset your saved XI in points terms.
- Strike rate in T20 settles faster than in ODIs. The 60-to-70 neutral band means a 30-ball 21 still avoids a penalty, which keeps low-order batters in the conversation.
- Captain multiplier applies to the final tally. A 50-point captain with 2x is a 100-point match. Build the XI, then ask which slot can clear 80.
For role-by-role reads that translate these numbers into a working XI, the IPL team and role notes page is the right next step. For the rule-side of Impact Player and reduced-overs scoring, the IPL quick answers page has the trivia.
